Is the IronWolf Pro 6 TB right for you?
This is the one to look at once you're past eight bays or the array's busy all day, because Seagate rates it for 550 TB a year and doesn't care how big the box is. You also get five years' warranty, two more than the cheapest NAS lines. CMR, thankfully. SMR and parity rebuilds don't get on.
Watch out for
It's a 7,200 rpm drive and you'll hear it working.
No Backblaze failure rate for this one. They don't run enough of them, if any, for a figure worth quoting. Seagate's datasheet puts it at 28 dB idle and 30 dB seeking. Power draw is 7.1 W idle and 9.3 W working on Seagate's figures, or 62 kWh a year if it spends the whole year idling. A 4-bay box full of these gives 18 TB after one drive's worth of parity.
