Go for it if you're building something bigger than a 4-bay box. It also earns its keep on a busy pool where scrubs and rebuilds never let up, because the 550 TB a year workload rating is there for exactly that. You also get five years' warranty, two more than the cheapest NAS lines. Recording is CMR, the right kind for RAID and ZFS.
!Watch out for
It's a 7,200 rpm drive and you'll hear it working.
Backblaze doesn't run enough of these for a failure rate we'd publish. On paper it makes 28 dB at idle and 30 dB seeking. Seagate lists 7.8 W at idle and 10.1 W working, which comes to 68 kWh a year for a drive that idles around the clock. A 4-bay box full of these gives 30 TB after one drive's worth of parity.
