It earns the extra once you're filling a big box or hammering the array with Plex and backups around the clock, as the 550 TB a year rating leaves plenty of headroom. You also get five years' warranty, two more than the cheapest NAS lines. It's CMR, which is what you want anywhere near a RAID or ZFS rebuild.
!Watch out for
At 7,200 rpm it's from the louder, warmer class. Fine in a cupboard, less fun on a desk.
There's no Backblaze data worth quoting here. On paper it makes 20 dB at idle and 26 dB seeking. Seagate lists 5 W at idle and 7.6 W working, which comes to 44 kWh a year for a drive that idles around the clock. Four of them in SHR or RAID 5 give 42 TB usable, or 38.2 TB once Windows has done its binary maths on it.
