Go for it if you're building something bigger than a 4-bay box. It also earns its keep on a busy pool where scrubs and rebuilds never let up, because the 550 TB a year workload rating is there for exactly that. Seagate backs it for five years, which is a long time in drive terms. CMR, thankfully. SMR and parity rebuilds don't get on.
!Watch out for
It's a 7,200 rpm drive and you'll hear it working.
There's no Backblaze data worth quoting here. Seagate's datasheet puts it at 20 dB idle and 26 dB seeking. Power draw is 6 W idle and 7.9 W working on Seagate's figures, or 53 kWh a year if it spends the whole year idling. Put four in RAID 5 and you'll have 66 TB to fill (Windows will call it 60.0 TB).
