If you're filling a camera recorder, this is what it's made for. We list it because surveillance drives show up in any price-per-TB hunt. For a NAS array, though, you'd be running it off its rating. Seagate backs it for five years, which is a long time in drive terms.
!Watch out for
Seagate doesn't rate it for NAS use at all, which rules it out for an array as far as we're concerned. At 7,200 rpm it's from the louder, warmer class. Fine in a cupboard, less fun on a desk.
There's no Backblaze data worth quoting here. On paper it makes 28 dB at idle and 32 dB seeking. Seagate lists 7.4 W at idle and 8.8 W working, which comes to 65 kWh a year for a drive that idles around the clock.
