The 5 Gb/s link is shared by every bay. Fine for one drive at a time, slow for a rebuild.
It does hardware RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 3, RAID 5, RAID 10, BIG, Normal), and in those modes your computer just sees one big volume. There's an internal power supply and no brick on the floor and it's rated for drives up to 18 TB.
